Your stream is your POV in the team's scrim review. These six settings keep the HUD readable and the audio clean. It takes about five minutes, and you only do it once.
In the Scenes panel, click +, name the scene something you will recognize, like scrim vods, then click it so it is the scene you stream.
Why: the review reads the round timer, score, kill feed and ability casts straight off your stream. A scene with only the game in it means no webcam, alerts or overlays sit on top of the HUD.
With the new scene selected, click + under Sources, choose Game Capture, name it and click OK. Then set:
Leave Capture Audio (BETA) unchecked. Step 3 handles the sound, and having both on puts the game audio on your stream twice.
Tip: VALORANT has to be running to show up in the Window list.
Click + under Sources again, choose Application Audio Capture (BETA), name it and set:
Why: this source records VALORANT's sound and nothing else: no Discord, no music, no alerts.
Tip: no Application Audio Capture in the list? Update OBS to version 28 or newer (Windows 10 or 11).
In the Audio Mixer, click the speaker icon under Desktop Audio and under Mic/Aux so both turn red. While you play, Application Audio Capture should be the only meter that moves.
Why: your team's comms are recorded separately by the Discord bot. Desktop audio would pull Discord and everything else into the VOD, and your mic would put your voice on it a second time.
Tip: Desktop Audio and Mic/Aux are shared by every scene, so unmute them when you switch back to your normal stream.
The game should fill the preview edge to edge. If you see black bars, or part of the screen is cut off, right-click the preview and open TransformFit to screen. With the Game Capture source selected you can also press Ctrl + F.
Why: the review finds the HUD at fixed spots on the screen, so the game has to cover the whole canvas.
In YouTube Studio, open your stream's details from CreateGo liveEdit, and under Audience pick No, it's not made for kids.
Check the channel default once too, under SettingsChannelAdvanced settings. If the channel is set as made for kids, every stream you start inherits it.
Why: YouTube locks down made-for-kids videos. The review tool can fail to download your VOD, or only get a blurry 360p copy, and your POV ends up missing from the review.
Tip: streaming on Twitch? Skip this step, it only exists on YouTube.
